I'm trying to figure out some online, regionally accredited schools that offer bachelor's degree programs in English, Writing, or just general Liberal Arts. Preferably, I'd like the least expensive ones possible, since I can't rely on parental support.

Does anyone know of some good schools?

Plan to use CLEP/DSST for the bulk of the degree any of the "big 3" fit the bill. Due to the acceptance of FEMA credit for free...and at around 30 credits, Thomas Edison State College and Charter Oak State College are particularly attractive. If making good use of credit by exam/FEMA/straighterline and a few other sources you could complete a degree at one of these in half the normal time for less that $10,000 (closer to $6000 if your carefull).

Alternatively choose the CC near you and start there...New Mexico has a couple of CC's that are very inexpensive at around $100/credit if your in a place that happens to be expensive. Look at New Mexico Junior College and Clovis CC....take the AA/AS and transfer to a cheap state school.

Western Governors University has an interesting self paced option, you pay about $2800 for 6 months and take as many courses as you can...the faster you get through the courses the cheaper your degree.

What state are you in? Have you completed your FAFSA at fafsa.gov for financial aid? Get a PELL grant and school doesn't have to cost you anything.

Look at the state schools in your area. Look at the Community Colleges. Look at Clovis, Peru State Troy State and the New Mexico system. There are so many programs, no one can reliably track them all to determine which are the least expensive at any given moment because costs change from semester to semester. It would be easier for people to answer if you could say what you can afford.
