Hello folks! I'm a junior in college, however, due to some family business problems I'm completing my BS online. The school is regionally accredited and also has a campus ( I attended it during my freshman year), and since I got a scholarship I wouldn't want to transfer somewhere else. I know this question has been asked a thousand times but I am unsure about the answer. Will Adcomms look down upon my degree? How much will this effect my chances for law school admissions? My goal is T14. Thanks! Helen
It is not the case, which means the answer is NO. As long as the school is regional accredited because the Law School admission is based the whole profile and main your GPA as well as LSAT score. - GPA - LSAT Score - Military or Government Affiliation - URM (Under-Represent Minority)...if you are minority does not mean you are qualified for this category. - Recommendations (e.i: Congressman and etc) More information, go to this website (Law School Numbers)...you'll see different people with different profiles whether rejection or acceptance and scholarship as well.
Law schools are obsessed with prestige and rankings, which in part reflect the "quality" of the students admitted. But "quality" is determined almost exclusively by two quantitative factors: GPA and LSAT. If you score highly in these two respects, then it won't matter if your degree was completed online. Also, note that law school applications have been plunging in recent years, as more and more people compare the very high cost of law school with the terrible job market for new lawyers. If this trend continues, then the drop in applications will improve the odds of getting into the law school of your choice, even at the T14 level.
