Honey Boo Boo & Duck Dynasty Degree Options

Per the attached link, it appears that Hillbilly type reality shows are becoming quite popular (among some segments of the populace).

Perhaps distance learning is an opportunity for this segment of the populace to expand their horizons.

 

I've never seen Honey Boo boo, but the guys on Duck Dynasty are actually pretty well educated. The younger guy that supposedly runs the company has an undergrad from the University of Louisiana Monroe (same school with the attractive DL MBA), and the Grandad has a degree from Louisiana Tech where he was the starting Quarterback (supposedly starting in front of Terry Bradshaw)... he turned down the NFL to grow a business and stay in Louisiana...those guys play a part on TV...I don't think your seeing the "real" family on that show.

 

If the goal is acculturation, then the DL format actually might not do all that much. Sure, you can read about differences, and MAYBE you will see some differences reflected in discussion boards, but there is nothing that can replace actually being in a cross-cultural environment.

That being said, I do think even a DL degree would help by improving knowledge and critical thinking sills. Apart from this, I just don't see how much cultural change is possible.
