Program Evaluation/Applied Research

Is anyone in this forum a program evaluator? I want to know how you got started in this field, what was the training like and the skills needed. Of course, I would like to know if anyone has seen any quality online evaluation programs that offer post-masters certificates (not degree programs). I would consider courses in applied research too.
