    Another MOOC hype article. But there's safety in numbers, I suppose.

    MOOCs are the Kardashians of higher education---way more hype than substance.

    I do not understand the fascination with MOOCs. Are they useful? Sure. Are they innovative? Sometimes. Are they going to replace traditional instruction or typical online instruction? Absolutely not.

    I do think they can be useful, and they may be excellent supplementary options, but I would hate to do an entire program via MOOCs. Of course, I don't really see that becoming a possibility, anyway.

    When college is free, it will be worth nothing.

    K12 education is free and still very important. You're pretty much stuck if you don't have a high school diploma or GED. Anyway, a lot of things are free and worthwhile that people don't pursue such as getting fit or learning a foreign language.
