I've been following the low-residencies/online-only MFA threads somewhat closely, and want to chime in on my experience at Full Sail thus far. I started Full Sail a couple of months ago, and I just finished my first class: The Art of Visual Storytelling. The class was extremely challenging and fun at the same time. I gotta say that the four-week accelerated format of the program kicked my butt; the workload for the first week was ok, and then it really picked up. The professor was awesome, she had worked for Pixar and I was amazed at the level of experience she had. I'm working, on average, of 15-20 hours per week on class work, ton of work, but extremely fascinating and fun. I'm concentrating on video game writing and classical storytelling. I know that NA schools get a bad rap for being too easy, however, I'm extremely happy with Full Sail. My next class is Multimedia Terms and Genres. For those not familiar with Full Sail's educational structure, it basically boils down to an accelerated coursework on steroids. You take one class every four weeks, and move at break-neck speed throughout the program. I will be done with my MFA program (60 credits) in 12 months.

The so-so of Full Sail, they seem to admit (as I'm sure most for-profits do) almost anyone willing to pay. As a result, the first week or so, your class is filled with people that cannot write to save their lives. However, at the end of week two, the bad apples seem to drop off, gone to never be seen again. Out of 25 students that started my class, only 12 finished the four weeks. I think people think that it will be an easy program. I can honestly say that without a doubt, I'm doing more work than my masters program at Chatham.

The other bad about the program is cost, $35,000 for the entire program, it does include a fully loaded, and sweet if I may add, Mac Book Pro. The laptop comes preloaded with all of the software that you would need for your particular program, also all books are included in the tuition as well. Again, extremely pricey for an NA degree. I'm doing it because I'm going there for free and it has been fun thus far.
So all in all, I'm extremely happy with the program.

Shoot me a PM if you need more info, I will keep posting updates here periodically to give those that are interested in the program, a more in-depth look at Full Sail. :headbang:
