I'm just out here working, how did I get elevated to the dubious honor of having "comes now" threads started about me out of he blue? I eat right, exercise, go to church on Sunday, keep my nose clean.. Jeez..if it can happen to me watch out! :)

My impression is that John Bear uses "comes now" threads to highlight schools -- good or bad -- that have only recently come to his attention. These schools are often bad or questionable, but not always -- for example, there was this largely positive "comes now" thread on the Bergin Institute of Canine Studies.

His main focus seemed to be on Peloton's use of stock photography, although this doesn't necessarily seem like a suspicious thing to do. I would bet that plenty of well-known and legitimate schools have used stock photography for marketing before.

Every page of this very website contains a stock image in the header. A really nice one, too.

Clearly you have reached the dizzy heights of DL stardom. You probably can photos of you being published shortly. Be careful what you wear and where you go!

Interestingly the degreeinfo stock image comes from the same exact collection we used. If using stock photography and having an office lease are the measuring sticks of corporate training, God help us all.. :)

Its funny, I actually already have been criticized for this right here, about a year or two ago someone found an quick video that had been recorded where my shirt.tie don't look good on camera, and much fun was made of it, including suggesting that I go on a diet. You wouldn't believe all the personal attack I endure, all because I tried to lower the cost of a good education a couple years ago when I had the chance. I guess it still surprises me, when even the world renowned Dr. Bear starts to follow me around online and questions me. At least he didn't suggest I should eat a salad every now and then, so that is some small thing I guess.. :)

In fairness, he did comment positively on your association with it: "Because of Dr. Lady's reputation and credentials, I'm not questioning the integrity of this institution in any way".

I use stock photos all the time to promote my business. I don't want my ugly mug marketing what we have to offer. And BTW it has nothing to do with DL, and even if it did I don't see anything wrong. It's just one way to promote a professional image.

Sure, however putting the ... After a sentence leaves room for interpretation and can even be used to suggest sarcasm.

"Because I know Steve s a smart guy I would never question his points... However there are other issues with his posts that could open up concern."

    As an example.

I'm of course not saying that about you!!!

Okay, I see what you're saying. Well, for what it's worth this neutral observer took it as positive. :)

Indeed it is -- a very good way, too. And you know you've chosen really well when a DEGREE MILL hijacks your photos for its site. They only steal the very best! Happens pretty often!

Just tossing out that when I read the thread, I got the feeling it was a sarcastic slam.

Posting links to stock photography and the pricing? Really?

I know what you mean. The Australian Tax Office watches me but they are trying to take my shirt. I do think that DL is overpriced and I think you would make serious foes if you wanted to reduce the costs. but not on this board

Yeah, that was quite obvious. My first impression when I read it was "there is probably some bad blood between the two that I am not aware of." Nevertheless, I believe that this forum is so fortunate to have Dr. Bear posting here.

There isn't any that I am aware of, I was actually surprised to see him commenting on the corporate training I am doing, checking out my LinkedIn page, and commenting on the usage of stock photography on the website...

I frankly don't blame you for being alarmed! But it appears to be an exploratory topic and everything panned out. It's just a corporate training opportunity -- and nothing more e.g. it doesn't deal with accreditation issues or obtaining a degree.

It's unfortunate that you endorsed DETC doctorates and DETC degrees, but that's a different issue entirely.

I also love arena football and regional airports, and its true I think national accreditation fill a necessary role in our higher education system, but this shouldn't put me on some less-than-wonderful watch list just for getting up and going to work every day.

Anyway, nice to see you and I agreeing, at least in part, on something :)

Dr. Lady is a great guy. He has given more than he has received. He is less about making money and more about offering affordable opportunities.
