When I was on my home stretch with my degree, I was able to get a job that nearly doubled my income with fantastic benefits. Now, I'm being told that since I'm a degree holder, I can apply to different positions within the company in March. Upper management is encouraging me to study for the GMAT and to take advantage of our tuition reimbursement program. I've already been given a project to head up, and am pretty much in a completely opposite place than where I was not even a year ago. I'm getting a used but greatly maintained BMW M5, have taken up skydiving as a hobby, and am just plain in love with life. Getting my degree was one of the best things I've ever done!
Yes. Go to Liberty Mutual's careers page and see if there's anything near you. Should you be interested. lol
You know, there are actually a variety of interesting jobs over there...I didn't realize Liberty Mutual was so large, nor the range of prospective jobs so diverse.
Ya, we're a very old and diverse company. We're growing in all of our lines, requiring support positions for every field.
I suspect that you are also a talented and valuable member of your organization. It probably figured into your success more than you know and the degree just opened the door. I'm not knocking the degrees but I think you may not be giving yourself enough credit. Many people with degrees are often passed over because they are still not that valuable even though they are educated.
Brow276. Whenever you get into a upper level management position, can you please consider of hiring me? Thanks brother! :]
Right on brow. I am happy for you. Your company obviously sees great potential in you. Your degree "piece of paper" opened the door, but your determination, great attitude, hard work, and infectious optimism combined with your degree is what really did it. As another poster said, there are a lot of unmotivated, educated idiots out there. Even a degree from Harvard could not help someone who does not posses your attributes and skills. Keep up the good work, Abner
