Good Morning, I realize this has been discussed before but could not locate it on my search. This is not for ease but to reduce anxiety of a returning student. Thanks for you ideas. Goal for this person is a TESC degree completion within the next 4 months. hille

Are you asking about undergraduate or graduates? Graduate program such as Masters and Doctorates rarely have final exams; but extensive writing research and projects.

Hello and thanks for any ideas. This is for undergraduate credit. This person is currently taking all the FEMA and USFA courses and then will move to gen ed courses. Hille

Some people are good at tests but don't like essays. Others like essays but are bad at tests. There needs to be some way to assess if a person has learned the course content. How might this be done otherwise (pardon me but I am the product of a very traditional educational system). College degrees are supposed to lead to professional careers. Such careers are filled with deadlines and performance expectations. This is one definition of a final exam, a performance goal with a deadline. I know this doesn't help you with your question, I'm sorry for that.

If TESC is *FOR CERTAIN* the path, then Straighterline and ALEKS will fit the bill. These credits have limited transfer value at other schools, but TESC accepts them fully.
Completely done in your own home /open book. Straighterline offers many courses, ALEKS offers math and stats.
They are not as cheap as CLEP, but if test anxiety is the problem, these will fit the bill nicely. Good luck!

Hello and thanks. Test anxiety is an issue. I am laying out a degree plan and will fill things in with Straigterline and Aleks. TESC is the best bet for a NJ resident. Thanks for the input. hille

Note that only a very few SL/ALEKS courses count for upper-level credit at TESC.

There's not a bad case for TECEP tests for a nervous tester. They return a grade of credit or no credit; if the grade is no credit, this is not transcripted and the student can have one more chance, (with payment), to attempt the test.
