Hello, I'm currently getting my BA in History through AMU. Ill be getting out of the military in about a year and have around 60-70ish credits from AMU. Ill be heading back to NY and want to attend a brick and mortar state school somewhere in NY to complete my degree through them.

Im getting kinda nervous that schools wont accept my credits but they should shouldnt they? Im thinking that History will probably be easier to transfer then some of AMU's more specialized degrees like Intelligence studies and the like.

    What do you guys think?

    Thanks for the help!

AMU is accreditied so it should not be an issue.

I really can't see why you would encounter any problems. AMU is regionally accredited. If you do run into some problems with the school you intend to graduate from and have your heart set on graduating from a New York school, you can always transfer to State University of New York - Empire State College (ESC). ESC is known for being very generous in accepting transfer credits.

It probably depends on which state school in New York you are considering.

At one extreme, Empire State College -- which has locations throughout the state -- is noted for very generous admissions and credit transfer policies. I doubt that they would have any problems accepting AMU credits.

At the other extreme, a SUNY school like Stony Brook is a selective, nationally ranked research university that gets far more applicants than they can accept. They can afford to be much pickier.

In short, my guess is that your AMU credits would transfer readily to some state schools in NY, but not to others.

WNMU took my credits from APU. Originally they didn't want to, because they thought they were only nationally accredited, but someone from APU contacted them and set it all straight.
