I'm wondering if anyone can help me out with some advice or point me in the right direction. I'm looking to do a BS/BA in CS/IT/Tech. I'd like to specialize in programming/software design, but I wouldn't mind a generalized CS program. What I am looking for is something that is Open enrollment, and is independently paced (self study paced), and not too overly priced. My goal is to complete that and continue on to a Masters and PhD. This is mostly for personal interest and personal growth. I should probably mention I'm from Canada (since I know some institutions charge more for out-of-state/foreign students), but I have to look outside of Canada since it falls very behind in terms of online/distance education options and programs are very limited.
I don't have any personal experience with UoL, but this sounds like a possible fit -- BSc Computing and Information Systems (BSc, Diploma and Work Entry Route) | University of London International Programmes
I just completed the BA Computer Science at Thomas Edison. I am now in the MS Computer Science program at Univ. Illinois-Springfield. Thomas Edison is open enrollment. As far as at your own pace, I did most of my classes by using CLEP, DSST, Aleks, Straighterline, FEMA and some IT certs. I then had to take my remaining classes at the school online. The whole process was fairly cheap as well.
Wow, that's really quite affordable. $7000 to $9000 for an entire undergrad degree program, seems almost too good to be true. I definitely want to avoid jumping around to exterior courses if possible, just out of simplicity's sake. Any guestimate of what it cost you in total?
