It is University of Lincoln http://www.lincoln.ac.uk/.

OOPS. This time it sounds more like an American university's name even though it is a British university.

Given that it is now located in the city of Lincoln this seems a perfectly reasonable new name. Naming universities according to the town or city in which they are located has been found to be helpful to people in choosing where to study. Using names of regions, without mention of a specific town or city, is less helpful.

  3. There are two universities named "Lincoln University" in the U.S. (one in Pennsylvania, one in Missouri) and there's "Lincoln Memorial University" in Tennessee. And of course, U. Nebraska - Lincoln.

    Actually,

It's possible that Robin Hood had the first campus in nearby Sherwood Forest ... with his band of Merrie Men easily recognised in their Lincoln Green.

The nearby Sheriff of Nottingham had to waite a goode many yeares before the generous Jesse Boot (famous apothecary) paid for a university at Nottingham.

    Just a thought .....

Da da da diddle da da da da !!!

Of course, Lincoln is a very old cathedral city like Durham.

    Cheers,

    Neil
