Looks like Portfolio rout is back.

    How?

Learners compile a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate how they have met the six standards at the appropriate level for the Professional Recognition Award.

The six standards are based around the following topics:

    Commitment to Professional Standards
    Communication and Information Management
    Leadership
    Professional Development
    Working with Others
    Managing Customer Relationships.

This new award will be done through Centers, so I am not sure you would be able to apply directly to City and Guilds. Its good development in general to have external accreditation as well

The portfolio rout even if done by centers may have flexibility for video cam interview.

IET, BCS and many other EC institutions are doing the PRI via Cam if you are in USA or other country.
So it remains to see if the centers allow overseas candidates to apply and how they will work it out.

These are some good development overall. They have also taken over the Engineering council exams totally and streamlined the process for each level. Now you can focus on which area of engineering to pursue instead of picking exams at random. The new scheme come under the code 9210.

The FCGI will still be there as its not competency based. Its basically given for outstanding contributions in general and no real assessment for actual work done.
