    Hi,
I'm back again. Does anyone know which school is more intense in coursework, Chadron State College or Charter Oak State College? Frankly, I want the easier one. I am afraid of becoming overwhelmed with homework especially because I work full-time and I have 4 children (ages 14 to 24).

Not exactly apples to apples. Charter Oak (COSC) allows so much to be brought in via credit by exam or transfer...that's how you bend their degree to your strengths. Done liek this the intensity is up to you.

Chadron follows a traditional school year and requires a lot of courses in residence.

Charter Oak will be more flexible...but only in a way. These are VERY different schools with contrasting approaches.

Unless you meant actually taking courses at COSC as compared to taking courses at Chadron...in that case I think Chadron will be cheaper. I wouldn't use COSC as a place to take to many actual courses unless your a Ct. resident and they are cheaper for you.

What are you trying to do?

The value of COSC is that you can test out of many parts of the degree. In other words you study on your own for say...the CLEP Psychology Exam, you take and pass it, and you use that credit at COSC. Otherwise courses there will be in excess of $800/3 credits plus the fee's. If you not planning on creatively testing out of a good many courses then COSC/TESC/and EC are probably not right for you unless you qualify for in state rates.

Since your in Ca. I suspect Chadron won't be all that cheap either. Did you look at the Sociology degree I mentioned at CSU-Pueblo? Is there an alternative closer to home? You mentioned in another thread that you needed F/A...have you filled out your FAFSA yet? What you qualify for will weigh on the selection of a school.

With a full PELL grant there are several schools that you could likely complete free of any cost to you but it doesn't sound like either that you mentioned is a great choice.

Thank you for all the information, rebel! Yes, I did look into CSU Pueblo. I have realized that the topic of most interest to me is indeed psychology. I did apply for FAFSA and it looks like I qualify but I have not applied to any school yet. Mind you, this is all new for me, FAFSA, online degrees, even forums! I'm a total newbie! I will continue to look at different schools, and I will definitely make sure that the school I pick is regionally accredited.
