Terrific. Thanks for posting. I am sure that these concentrations will be of interest to some here.

    Thanks!

    Hi!

Thanks for the tip about Touro's new Ph.D. program -- when I last looked at Touro, the only doctoral program was in Business, so I wouldn't have bothered to check again, had I not read your post.

    Thanks so much! :)

    Thanks, Darren

    Hi Darren!

Thanks for the additional Touro info. I noticed it yesterday when I was checking out the doctorate in Education. I've read both positive and negative opinions about Touro here at Degreeinfo, so I'm going to request more information from Touro and then decide for myself.

    Thanks again!

    Regards,
    Susan

    Hi Leslie!

    Hi Leslie!

Touro looks interesting, and the price looks good, too. It's hard to find an accredited program that's reasonably priced.

Also, did you check out the short time frame for the coursework? Touro is starting to look like a strong possibility! :)

    I agree.

Touro seems to be the most realistic choice for an RA degree.
Price, accreditation, professionalism, length of time (phds used to be shorter before the 80s; don't see the reason they have to take 4-5 more years if one already carries an M.A in a related field).

I am considering the PhD in either Health Sciences if it allows me to specialize in the Mental Health dept. Another poster said that that was not a problem. Anyways I am about to finish my M.A in mental health and rehabilitation.

I contacted them a year or so ago and spoke to a woman (head of the dept??). She did not see this as a problem. After a lot of thought I have decided to do a more theologically centered doctorate in counseling from a TRACS accredited seminary.

Good luck to you. You can't beat the number of credits required for the Health PhD. (40 IIRC). That puts it in the 20,000 range.

    Thanks, North.

I will speak with the faculty again. If the lady you spoke with had a heavy accent, then it was Dr. Edith Newman (I wrote her name down the first time I spoke with her). Otherwise most of the grad students in Touro have reported close to outstanding experiences with the program. I find that highly encouraging.
    Thanks for the info.

    Hello again,

I am in Touro's Phd in Business Admin, and barring some initial technology issues, I am extremely pleased with the program. I can tell you that in my program, there seems to be a strong focus on research. If I take 2 courses at once for the entire program, there will always be a research class that I am taking.

I think this is how it works for all of the Phds:

Take the courses ( I require 3 hours per night)

    Advance to candidacy.

As a candidate, Take the integrated project class. This, I
believe, is like a mini dissertation.

Dissertation- original contribution to the body of knowledge.

    Hi Darren,

Thanks for the play-by-play of your Touro doctoral program. I'm going to call Touro tomorrow and ask them to send me more information.

    I really appreciate your help!:)

Sounds like her. She did have an accent. Very helpful. I indicated that I had an M.A. in Counseling and was interested in the Ph.D. in Health Sciences from a Mental Health standpoint. She indicated that this could be pursued.

    Sounds promising for you.

    Good luck!
