    Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if you seen this site before, but for those of you who want some reviews about colleges check it out:

Online Schools & Accredited Online Degrees from Online Colleges

I'm sure there are others out there. Feel free to share those sites you know of that offer different reviews about schools. :)

I totally understand your desire for good school reviews, but those kinds of sites generally do not present an accurate review of a school. The technical data is great, but the "student" written reviews are not to be trusted. The principal issue is the fact that there is apparently little oversight of the posting. It seems that those review boards are a magnet for disgruntled individuals who do not get from the school what they think they deserve, so they write a scathing review that nobody questions. Most review sites that I have visited will make you think that the school you are considering is no good...even if it's a great school.

That's why I was so grateful to find Degree Info a number of years ago. Here you can ask members about schools and get feedback that has no hidden agenda. Very few members have any real axes to grind. If someone writes unfair assessment, others will usually point it out and correct it. So you will get much more trustworthy data from DI and boards like it.

So get your technical data (cost, enrollment, program info, Etc) from those sites, but come to DI to get a more fair assessment of the school.

I totally agree with you on that. I usually use it as general insight, but not focus on that; however, some of them are quite accurate. For example, Columbia Southern University, I have seen 90% people satisfy with the school from tuition to academic standpoints.

    Surf & Tekman,

I agree with both of you... I always keep that in the back of my mind that most people provide a negative review because they are emotionally driven to communicate their disheartening event. I just like to see what people have to say.

Undoubtedly degreeinfo has been the best source to receive feedback about different schools. I'm just throwing little tidbits of information that people can use to see a different perspective.

A rather strange site. Their methodology and results do not match. According to the site:

The following criteria were used to rank the schools:

    • Accreditation: Regional accreditation is widely considered to be the most selective and prestigious of all accreditation types. It also serves its students better by allowing them to transfer credits between institutions easily. Therefore, all schools on our list are regionally accredited.
No they are not. Columbia Southern, California Coast and American Sentinel are not regionally accredited. 1/3 of the "institutions" listed are actually discipline programs at two institutions (Kaplan and Phoenix). American Intercontinental is highly but University of Maryland University College and American Public University System are not ranked at all.

I wonder how many of the schools in the rankings are advertisers with guidetoonlineschools...

Good catch, Dr. P! Yet another reason to view those online review sites with skepticism.
