I looked up department head George B. Stefano, and he is indeed at: SUNY College at Old Westbury, Neurosci Res Inst, Old Westbury, NY 11568 USA. The other "faculty" seem to be people in his group. Interesting that all their work seems to be on effects of narcotics and opiates.

As for me, I don't think I have ever seen one as bad, except perhaps for the Robert Kennedy University of Switzerland. I can't imagine any authentic professor or researcher signing on with LPU. Talk about a resume timebomb! I might e-mail some of these people to see if they have ever heard of Lincoln Park University. I'm simply at a loss. I'll probably never go to a doctor again until I check his office for diplomas from the LPU School of Medicine. Run away! Run away! "Entire molecular medicine on line program coming up soon" Yikes!

Yes, an awful web-site. Though nowadays some of the most egregious mills have beautiful web-sites, so it's nice to see site that looks like a diploma mill site.

The source says that the author is Roland Hofbauer. I shall have to take Roland off my list of potential web-site developers for Potgieter International University.

I googled “Roland Hofbauer” and found a legitimate scientist (chemotaxis expert) at University of Vienna. But I thought this was a coincidence until I compared the address of the U. Vienna scientist:

It's a recent addition to the Yahoo distance learning listings, where there are almost as many mills as legitimate schools.

 

These folks need to have one of their journalism grads go through their site.

I love their use of the term "academical," e.g. "academical accreditation."

I wonder if they have an "academical dean."

It's such a low budget (zero budget) operation that you can see that he made the video by himself -- he has the remote control near his right hand, and at the end you can see him stop the camcorder.

 

I thought the site was entertaining.

Aside from a few grammatical errors I found, the overall website sucks!

It appears that the entire staff of the Institute of Neuroscience (NY) must have "cleared out". Anybody check to see if they're still in business.

A few other interesting points: some of Bernhard Geimer's work is illustrated on a web site called Vicer: News In Medicine http://www.vicer.org/ What's interesting is that they share the same webdesigner. Another oddity is that he, Roland Hofbauer (heads both the School of Management and the School of Journalism), Roland's brother, Lothar and Michael Frass (School of Compementary Medicine) are all graduates of the University of Vienna.

I don't know who the school hired for recruiting purposes, but they only approached two universities. I'd ask for a refund.

 

I just saw the video. I am dumbfounded--the guy sounds Mr. Sulu from Startreck. "As a European I of course had to accept the wonderful opportunity of Lincoln Park University"? I thought that the ESL problems were Asian, but I suppose now German lies behind the unique...er, syntax of the Lincoln Park site. Further examination of the website reveals that those newfangeled unaccredited distance degrees have enjoyed "complete acceptance" in industry, government and education. "What is accepted really?" Hey, I just applied for a job in there and they didn't shoot me. Must be another case of "degree acceptance" from Lincoln Park University.

Is it possible that the people behind this thing are sincere, or think they have started an actual university?

I think he does believe he is starting something legitimate. The amazing part is that he persuaded so many of his friends to participate.

It's appears that they don't conform to Hawaii's non-accredited university regulations... Jeff Burton's office will probably have a good time with this one.

It's frightening that the author of this dreadful website is Chairman of the LPU Department of Journalism, and supposedly the author of a book about Online Publishing and editor of a journal on the same topic. Some of the courses for which he is responsible: "Writing Well," "Creative Writing," and "Electronic publishing in the WWW."

 

Call the FBI! Call the CIA!! Call the AMA!!!

Good Golly Miss Molly---The VICER (nice name) page is more disturbing than LPU. These people are giving actual CLINICAL medical advice on the internet, and anyone can register to be an "expert"! Easy publications include: "Medicine 4 you." Medical chat: "Talk to a doctor at the other end of the world." What's next? Home surgery kits? If you work at a hospital, register as an international expert healthcare provider.

Seriously, these people are just a hair away from offering online M.D. degrees--presumably to any "hospital" or "institutional" workers.

Back at LPU: The faculty consists of, and I quote, "world renown expert and online freaks." These people are making good old Columbia State look good.

Nothing like truth in advertising.
