DL to be pumped up at U Virginia

    The ironic thing is that UVa has been fairly active in DL, as noted in the article:

    The UVa Trustees were apparently spooked by the massive enrollment in some of the free online classes offered by other schools:

    But as the story points out, these classes are experimental. It's hard to see how free online courses are a viable business model for schools. Furthermore, it's not clear that huge open-enrollment non-credit classes provide meaningful credentials to students.

    The odds of President Sullivan keeping her job may be improving. In fact, it may be the trustees -- not the president -- that are in danger of losing their jobs.
