Why would someone do this?

I found someone on Linkedin that has a a MEd from Rutgers (1990) and a PsyD and JD from Widener University (1998). He then has an MBA from California Pacific University (2001). Why would someone do that to their CV?

God only knows. Too bad Levicoff doesn't post here very often anymore. I'd love to hear what he'd say.

I honestly think some people are addicted to stockpiling degrees (anyone else remember Dennis Huber?), and maybe that person just doesn't understand accreditation as well as Dennis did.

Maybe it's just an ugly, clumsy attempt at credential stacking?

Perhaps he/she is a "professional" student i.e, cannot decide what they want to be when they "grow up".

Why not? He'd already studied education, psychology, and law, so clearly he has diverse interests. So maybe he wanted to learn a bit about business without spending a lot of money? California Pacific University may be unaccredited, but it's not a mill.

I also think that this is not a big deal.
Now if his Management degree came from St Regis or other mill then its a different story.

Also look at the year 2001 and the other degrees in the 90s.
It was before the explosion of on line RA MBA degrees.

I remember people in the 90's didn't have that many options so if one had fully accredited undergrad degree they at times opted to have unaccredited state approved Masters degree such as Cal Coast Univ or CPU.

My employer was providing tuition for such schools as CCU, CPU and WPU.

I guess you have a point. Due to lack of options at the time (2001-2003) I completed my CCU BA and MBA.

True, not many options in those days! I only wished that had the options that are available today. I started my MBA/DBA with CPU in 1995 and was done by 2001. No regrets, never.

Common Bruce he only has four degrees. So, what would qualify as stockpiling degrees, more than four?

I was expecting a more candid, respectful and simple way to ask who I was, the answer will surprise you and you may want to research that, but those days are over me now! Answering questions that is!

Sweet, taking the same curriculum three times must make him three times smarter than the rest of us who understood it the first time.

Sorry, I just thought posting that childhood memory would be a fun way of saying "I have no idea who in the world you are, but you sure sound important!" :wiggle:

I don't think it's that bad, really, depending on his target audience.

If he's trying to move up within the Fortune 100 world or state-school academic ranks, good luck. Anywhere else, they might not mind. They might even be happy to have someone that well-trained on board.

I would think DETC diplomas would look better than CPU with those others, but that's just me.
