    HI!

I was looking at Ft. Hays for a grad certificate in Web Development. This used to fall under their MLS program, but now it appears it is under the designation MPS or Master of Professional Studies. As I was looking through, I decided that I might just pursue the MPS rather than the certificate. After all, it is only 15 units difference.

I wondering if anyone knew anything about the MPS degree, and particularly how it is viewed compared with an MA or MS in a subject. I already have an MA, and almost a second one, so I'm not really concerned, but I was curious if this 30 unit program would be perceived as an equivalent to a normal MA?

Here is the link: Master of Professional Studies (MPS) - Fort Hays State University

    Thanks in advance!

Well, I do posses one (Master of Professional Studies in Technology Management) from Georgetown University. I always list it as Master of Professional. As far as nobody has asked me about the title over MA or MS. I asked the Dean about the title, she said because it is issued by the School of Continuing Studies; however, there is not really distinction between MPS, MS, MA, MLS. A Master degree is a Master degree.

Besides, my diploma is in Latin, so not many people can read it anyway.:eek5:

TEKMAN, you got the EXACT diploma frame that I wanted for my diploma. Unfortunately for me, I asked a relative to pick up mine from the Dean's office, since I was not in DC at the time. As a favor for me, they had it framed, but it is in this plain frame, not the nice Georgetown frame, like yours. Seeing yours, I am seriously considering replacing my frame.

Congratulations! Did you attend the graduation ceremony?

Thanks! Yes, I attended the graduation ceremony. The frame is expensive, I paid $243.00 for it. I just ordered two similar ones for my degrees from Troy and SMU. :aargh4:

Thanks for the input. I have seen some prejudice in the institutions that I have worked at over the years and just wanted to make certain that a Masters was a Masters was a Masters.

It will be interesting. I think I'll start with the certificate program and see how it goes from there. From what I understand one can change over to the MPS at any time.

@Tekman that is a beautiful frame. Thanks for the clarification.
