Does anyone know of a regionally accredited college that accepts courses taken at a DETC accredited school?

Capella U has in terms of DETC Masters for doctoral programs. I believe that Liberty University notes that it will consider nationally accredited degrees for admission. This is mainly aimed at TRACS but would seem to apply to DETC as well. Liberty U. has DL degrees available from Bachelors through Ph.D.

  3. John Bear has done much research on this topic, and the detailed results are apparently to appear in 15th ed. of his book. The short answer is that very few RA schools will transfer credits from a DETC-accredited school routinely as a matter of policy, but most will consider such credit transfer on a case-by-case basis, with the chances improved if the specific courses have been independently evaluated by the ACE College Credit Recommendation Service.

Gert is also correct. WIth the cost of some DETC programs and if you are considering going RA after their are probably better RA alternative to begin with that will ensure smoother transition.

It might be helpful if you mentioned where you are at the moment. Have you already completed DETC courses or are you considering a program.

Many will flatly refuse DETC credits. For the others, here are some of the factors, in my opinion:

    1) how many credits
    2) what credits/for what degree program
    3) how exemplary your SAT score
    4) how hungry the school is for students
    5) who you ask
    6) your willingness to repeat some courses

The best thing you can do is to ask the schools that interest you. I've been doing some research into grad. school entry for DETC degree holders. I wouldn't assume the grad school/undergrad results to be the same, but I did find some departmental differences in policy and I suspect you'll find the same for credit transfer to undergrad school. So you have to be careful and make a completely clear and open inquiry, including explaining what the DETC is, because I've found that many RA admissions people had never heard of it.

If you've already taken the courses, and all else fails, you can always go for portfolio credit with the RA school. Find courses at an RA school that match your DETC courses, and use the DETC transcripts as part of the supporting evidence.

Touro University International indicated to me that they would accept my DETC masters for entry into the PhD Business program.
