I posted this in the CLEP, DSST section with no luck:

I would like a little help if anybody is willing and able :) I have been studying at Western Governors University for a while now, and I'm really just burnt out with it. It's a great school, but as I said, I'm just burnt out. I want to finish a degree as quickly as possible (don't care what major), and I would like to try to do it by testing out. Please help me decide which school and major I should apply to and what tests I would need to take to finish.

I have completed the following courses at Western Governors University and attached their credit values:
    Principles of Management (4)
    Communications Foundations (2)
    Language and Communication: Essay (2)
Fundamentals of Business Law and Ethics (6)
    Integrated Natural Science (4)
    Ethical Situations in Business (3)
Quantitative Literacy: College Algebra, Measurement, and Geometry (3)
Quantitative Literacy: Statistics, Probability, and Problem Solving (3)
Fundamentals of Organizational Behavior and Leadership (4)
    Reasoning and Problem Solving (3)
    Integrated Natural Science Applications (4)
Fundamentals of Economics , Global Business and Quantitative Analysis (4)
Literature, Arts and the Humanities: Analysis and Interpretation (2)
Fundamentals of Marketing and Business Communication (6)
Fundamentals of Finance, Accounting and Information Technology (6)
    Leadership Concepts and Applications (4)
Quality, Operations and Decision Science Concepts (8)
Strategy, Change and Organizational Behavior Concepts (7)

I've completed these courses at Georgia Military College:
    American Government (5 quarter hours)
    Introductory Psychology (5 quarter hours)
    Western Civilization (5 quarter hours)

I've completed these courses at Wiregrass Technical College (formerly Valdosta Technical College)
    Business Math (3)
    Intro to Marketing (3)
    Fundamentals of Selling (3)

And finally, I've completed the following FEMA EMI courses
    IS-208a State Disaster Management
IS-802 Emergency Support Function (ESF) #2 Communications
    IS-702a NIMS Public Information Systems
IS-701 NIMS Multiagency Coordination System (MACS)
    IS-242a Effective Communication
    IS-703 NIMS Resource Management
IS-704 NIMS Communications and Information Management
IS-706 NIMS Intrastate Mutual Aid an Introduction
    IS-01 Emergency Program Manager
    IS-240a Leadership and Influence
    IS-139 Exercise Design

Can anybody provide me with some direction?

Did you look into the credit evaluation at TESC that I mentioned in the other thread?

For starters I suggest you download the Excelsior College (EC) Liberal Studies catalog then compare your credits with the EC requirements for their BSLS. In my opinion the most flexible degree in the world. Many of your credits are professional credits and the EC BSLS will accept up to 59 professional credits.

Or Charter Oak or Excelsior. Trouble is that WGU bases its credits on its own formula as I understand it...I have no idea who, other than possibly the big 3, can get you sorted out.

The reason I specified TESC was because they had (no idea if they still have it) a credit evaluation service for a small fee ($25 years ago) where you send them your transcripts, and they plug them into various degree programs.

Oh no problem with TESC...just throwing out the obvious other options. As far as I know they all charge about $75 for the app/unofficial evaluation, but if TESC has it cheaper that would be a great.

I think TESC is the only one that takes FEMA as credits. While I would go with COSC over TESC anyday of the week, if you have the FEMA credits it would be foolish to throw them away. I would guess you have about 100 credits so I would not take anyone on this boards word for anything (you are too close) - go to the source (the school) and find out exactly where you stand.

I did check into it. Their evaluation is completely automated now. TESC seems like a good school, but they offer VERY LITTLE help to anybody who has only applied. They will not help you until you have registered and paid their fees. I have communicated with COSC and Excelsior as well. Talking to Excelsior is not much better....very hard to find any sign of intelligence when calling them. In the few emails I've had with COSC, I have had all of my questions answered very promptly, directly, courteously, and professionally. The customer service might have me sold, but I'm still trying for the FASTEST route. TESC and Excelsior do not seem interested in helping me find that route.

I forgot to add that I also have 6 criminal justice credits at excelsior for completing Georgia Basic Corrections Officer training. But that would be easy to just transcript and transfer out to a different school.

WGU bases its credits on Competency and not semester hours. The BIGGEST problem with transferring their credits is that they group courses together (for example, the course titled Quantitative Literacy: College Algebra, Measurement, and Geometry)

The $25 fee I mentioned for TESC was a loooong time ago!

Even at $75, that's a bargain to know exactly where you stand before you commit and enroll.

Cosc takes fema free and direct from the source now.

Sorry to be so slow to approve your posts; when there are no mods online you may end waiting awhile. More info on that here: http://www.degreeinfo.com/general-distance-learning-discussions/35100-new-users-ask-where-did-my-posts-go.html

I looked at your credits and it looks like you have around 50 to 65 semester units in professional subjects with most of them being business. So you might want to check out BSBA requirements at the Big 3.

My experience with Excelsior is that you have to do your own footwork. Their catalogs are easy to understand. What I did was wait until I had accumulated most of my credits (around 100) before applying to minimize cost. They only objected to one upper division course I wanted to do after I registered.
