StraighterLine and the Saylor Foundation partner announcement to enable students to receive low cost college credit: StraighterLine and the Saylor Foundation Partner to Enable Students to Receive Low Cost College Credit - Yahoo! Finance Of course there are various other existing testing options like CLEP, DSST, etc., but this provides a (low cost?) route to credit viaACE and SL partner schools. Is this a done deal? This could be a good thing. :deal:

I'm anxious to see how this plays out. I took a SL course and may take a couple more but i'm not fully convinced of the integrity of the system. I believe they will eventually have to proctor student finals at a minimum. But it is an interesting experiment that holds a great deal of promise. Never heard of Saylor before....I think we may have some new homeschool curiculum. if SL keeps the exam costs low I can definantly see an ACE transcript as an augment to a homeschool record. We used CLEP in this way (sort of) in the last couple of years.
I like where this is going. I'm curious as to why Saylor determines some of its courses as incomplete simply because they don't have a lecture or a document that would add very little value to the classes? I mean, you have to respect their desire to be thorough, I just wonder if by doing so in such a public manner are they scaring off some students?
