How am I liking Liberty?

To answer SurfDoctor's question... I love it!!!:banana::heart:

Actually, I had an incident that could have gone sour. I'm in the last week of my class and I turned in the wrong paper. I really felt dumb for not noticing that I turned in my other class' paper (I'm taking two courses simultaneously: Bible and Apologetic). When I logged in yesterday night to check my grade for my APOL class, I discovered that I got a big whopping "0" (zero) out of 140 points for my paper. I was so upset!!! My instructors comments were, "It seems that you turned in the wrong paper. This paper is for a Bible Class". I was embarrassed but most of all, really upset.:zx11pissed: I have been working really hard this semester. For the first two classes I earned "A's" and I was on schedule to earn "A's" for these two classes, until this event occurred. I immediately emailed my instructor and sent him an explanation with an attachment of with my paper. I was really concerned, because technically I made the error and could have suffered greatly for it. To my surprise, I received a perfect grade on my paper today. I was so excited because had he kept my grade at the zero, I would have received a "B" at best (and that's only assuming that I would receive the maximum amount of points for the remaining assignments). Now I'm still on track for my perfect 4.0 this full-time semester. :veryhappy: I really am excited and truly love this school.

Friday, is the last day for this semester. All though this is a good thing, the unfortunate part is that I have no break, and I have my summer session that next Monday. Egh! I'm taking Psychology of Personality, Stats for Social Science, Psychology of Children, and Psychology of Adolescence. It's going to be a lot during the summer (especially with my work schedule) but I know I can do it.

I hope this inspired someone who is considering Liberty. It really is a great school!!!

It is a great school. I'm taking a few summer courses as well, though not before a short much-earned break. Good luck with your future studies!

    Excellent! Me too.
I'm not surprised by this. That's the kind of people they are. I'm a family friend of one of the professors there, I even spent a week at his house during an intensive, and I love those people. I dropped out of a PhD program at NCU to go to Liberty for an EdD. It was a striking change of philosophy; at NCU they didn't seem like they cared if you lived or if you died, at Liberty, they bend over backward to serve your needs.
I'm in the same boat as you; finishing up a pretty grueling doctoral class on Friday only to start an even tougher one on Monday. My other gripe is that they don't take a week off at Easter; classes kept going right through. My wife and I went to Cabo San Lucas and I had to spend some of my time taking a midterm exam. I did it on my laptop sitting by the pool, but still.

I dont know much about this college. Do they offer only christian courses? I love the description of the staff, instructors, etc. But Im not really wanting to be beat over the head with christian teachings.

The programs are quite good and the education quality is world class. It is a very Christian school and most classes have some component that is related to the Bible. If you are not inclined that way, you probably would not like it.

Darn. I would have liked to look into it for my graduate studies since it sounds so great. But no, Im not inclined to have christianity included in all of my lessons. Oh well.

Do they still use the old DVDs? I bought the DVD for PSYC 355 to brush up on stats for my PhD program there. I'm interested in selling them if they are still used.

    Not that I'm aware of.

I don't think so. Most of the classes have embedded video lectures in the courseware.

Yea, probably not then. I have spoken with a few members who went there anyway and they were not happy. There's lots of other great schools out there and you have already chosen one. So rest assured my friend.

Oh I wasnt looking for now. I just thought maybe after I finished my undergrad since I keep hearing so many good things. But thats ok. Some schools work for some people, not so much for others.

    Good stuff.

I knocked out 4 classes last summer and it was rough for a couple of weeks because the classes overlapped. My advice is to get ahead and stay ahead. You can do it.

I'm actually in Virginia for commencement. I'm looking forward to walking across the stage on Saturday in front of my family.

    Go Flames!

Congrats! It'll be interesting to hear how the crowd reacted to Romney. There's been some chatter on FB lately (mostly negative) concerning his invitation..

I was on campus today and overheard a number of undergrads saying that they don't plan to attend. First, you don't really graduate then - that's broken up into smaller ceremonies throughout campus later in the day. Second, the security (as I'm sure we can all imagine) is quite intense. Students are to report hours in advance and be patted down and searched.

I had hoped to march but changes in my dissertation will result (hopefully!) in an August dissertation defense. Who knows who they'll invite next year.... the Dalia Lama?

I read about the drama. We'll see how that goes Saturday morning. I really don't care. Like somebody posted earlier, the degrees are handed out in separate ceremonies later.

Liberty sent an email out Wednesday night saying check-in is Saturday morning at 6:30 a.m.

Hello Graymatter! I realize this post is several years old, but I have been searching for that old DVD set for some time. If you still have it, I would be interested in purchasing it.
    Thanks!
