I am considering Columbia Southern University Online. My question is this, what is it like? I recently used Western Governor's University online and didn't like it at all. They have 6 month terms and no weekly assignments. You pretty much just read all the material and take the exams. I am looking for an online university that that is like a campus university with weekly assignments and the like. Has anyone used Columbia Southern University. Is it like this? I can't answer your question re assignments. However I trust you are aware that WGU is regionally accredited (the gold standard) while CSU is DETC accredited. If you proceed with CSU sure DETC accreditation fits in with your career goals. I used Coastline CC which has weekly assignments and either 8 or 16 week terms an I'm sure many other online courses use this format.
I just enrolled in Fort Hays State University, Virtual College. Like the school Ian mentions, FHSU also offers classes on either an 8 or 16 week format with weekly assignments and deadlines. FHSU is also RA, if that makes any difference to you. However, I won't start my first class until June, so I can't offer you any advice on how the classes are. The syllabus for the course I will be taking is very structured with deadlines, which is what I need. Good luck in your search!
Most of the schools operating like regular school in exception of the big Three and Western Governors University. I would recommend Fort Hays State University since it is the cheapest tuition out there. BTW, don't be confused between Columbia Southern University with Columbia University (Formerly King College, aka Ivy League School).
What program are you looking for? That might help some of us give you examples of other schools that are regionally accredited that dont have a hefty pricetag.
