Good Afternoon Everyone, I am considering enrolling in Walden University's DBA program. I would like to know if anyone here could give me any information on their experiences with this university. My plan is to use the degree to help me obtain part-time teaching employment in the future, and to improve my chances for promotion in my current job. Any information (good or bad) would be appreciated. Thanks.
Walden is a great school with a good reputation for an online only school. It requires several residencies where you must attend conference style sessions organized in various parts of the country. I enrolled but switched schools before my first DBA class at Walden and was impressed with their operation. I decided to attend another school because it appeared that the doctorate was going to cost me between $65 and $90K, so I found a cheaper option. If you can afford it, Walden would be great. As far as teaching goes, there is a great deal of competition out there and many people with the same idea as you. It's possible to do, but it will be tough. Having a great deal of practical experience if the field you would teach is a requirement to even be considered by HR departments at schools. Either that, or a great deal of experience in university teaching.
