I've been looking for a fully online MBA degree from an RA accredited university. After initially considering Jone's (JIU) I now look more seriously at Regis. Anybody that has gone through the online version of their MBA ?

    Shop Around

I was enrolled at Regis and I had a very bad personal experience with that school. But each person is different so it may be a good fit for you. What turned me away was:

    1. They are expensive as heck!!

    2. They are non-responsive to questions, concerns, et. al once they have you enrolled!

    3. They don't clearly disclose the requirements of the program until they have you enrolled.

    4. Unless they have changed since September...no matter what your undergrad dicipline/GPA they will not allow you to take more than one class online per semester until you maintain at least a 3.0 for 9 semester hours worth of classes.

    5. They are a "FOR PROFIT" institution...do a search to weigh the pro's v. con's.

    The good points are:

    1. They are RA

    2. They are widely known

    3. You can earn your entire degree online

    4. The coursework is very demanding and curriculum is stringent; you get the feeling that your work is just as hard or harder than the B&M equivalent of the program ( I spoke with several students that was in my class. Many of them had taken traditional courses from Regis prior to going online).

Do yourself a BIG Favor...shop around!

I ended up at Southwest Missouri State and I love it. + I took four classes over the fall semester and spent only $1200.00 books and everything!

    But shop around!

    Mike,

Thanks for the info. About being "expensive as hell", I think that although they are not as cheap as JIU, considering they are widely known the cost of $16K (no books included) is not too bad compared to other universities.

The non-responsiveness to questions worried me a little. Anybody else with similar experiences?

    Indiana Wesleyan University MBAO

Have you heard about the MBA program at Indiana Wesleyan University? I work at Indiana Wesleyan and have two friends in the program currently and they really enjoy the program. I don't know about the specifics of the course but you can learn more at www.iwuonline.com on the web.

Why I did NOT go with Regis ...

From a previous post on here ... why I did NOT choose Regis:
(I did choose Touro ... and my MBA is completed now !)

"Next Program - Regis (Denver, Colo.) MBA DL program

    Strong points,
    Medium length program (+/-18 months)
GMAT can be waived in some cases
    Total costs about +/- $ 15k US

    Weak points,
    Program can not be accelerated

    And ...

The "knock out" for Regis was when I was in Denver visiting
one of my daughters ... I drove by the Regis campus and thought
"Hey I'll go meet the staff and pick up the MBA information while
I am town" ... Go back to my daughter's and call for specific
directions ... "Sorry, we don't have that information HERE, you need
to call the 1-800 ...", which I did and asked the person WHERE he
was located. Seems like he was in Florida! Very sharp person,
answered my questions but didn't have a good response to why I
could not obtain the MBA information FROM the Denver school.
I know about the Alliance connection, but when I am AT THE CAMPUS
of where the degree will be issued, and they send me to a person
in Florida. Sorry, my very first impression was not good as to how
    support might be done.

    Confusing point,
Regis is considered a "top tier" school in some business rankings ...
Great, but no one could tell me is that for undergraduate or graduate
programs or both ? And where would the DL MBA fit in the picture ?"

    Time

    Kosta

I mentioned cost in my previous post however, time is more important to me than money! I cannot afford to take one class at a time and be put on a probationary status for months while still spending thousands of $$$. I think an RA school that provides a quality DL program is sufficient. If its not Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Cambridge, MIT, etc... then the name of the school like "REGIS" may not be impressive to an employer anyway...most employers look for "An Earned Degree" from a legitimate school. If the name of the school is familiar (in my opinion) it doesn't get you any more or less kudos.

I just don't think that the hassle, limitations, etc. (explained in my previous post) are worth the costs. Also, I just moved out to the West Coast and I stopped at numerous DL Schools B&M Campuses. Regis is off of I-70 West, I believe a bit north of the Freeway. They have a pretty nice facility compared to some B&M schools that do not offer DL Courses. I spoke with Kathryn (I believe that's it), in the administration office of the MSM Program and she was very informative and helpful. They have satellite campuses all over the area and there is a big "SUN" systems building across the freeway from the campus and they are a big recruiter of Regis Grads/Alum. If I had no experience with them prior to visiting their campus...I would have been thoroughly impressed.

Fort Hays State in Kansas (Hays Kansas to be exact), is the best school that I visited and they took me on a VIP tour of there new DL program. I don't know if its online yet, but it looks to be very well planned and very well thought out. They maintain academic information on-file of their professors and they screen them out very, very, very thoroughly prior to putting them on staff.

    Regards

    Mike,

    BA TESC, NJ

Quick question. Where did you read, see or hear that Regis is a "FOR PROFIT" institution? Do you mean in the same sense as the University of Phoenix?

    Thanks

Regis is a non-profit Jesuit school founded in something like 1877. Not at all like UOP.
