WGBH is a Boston affiliate for National Public Radio. Today's lunchtime show (The Emily Rooney Show [she's Andy Rooney's daughter, if that matters]) was a fairly lengthy conversation on the cost of higher education. This quickly morphed into a discussion of online learning as the future of higher education. Many positive things were said about DL in this conversation. Also there were some very interesting things said about the future of higher ed in general including the "endangered species" of small third and fourth tier colleges. Apparently the audiotape won't be available until after 3pm (Boston time) but here's the link that will get you there: The Emily Rooney Show
After listening to the radio spotlight, I could see how there is an emergence in newer technology that may lead the way for DL in for future generations. You can also tell that the representative from Harvard didn't like the "edutainment" idea. I don't have a problem with it since learning can involve the engagement of entertainment. I personally learn best whenever I am entertain by learning material, then when I tired and not actively engaged in a boring class.
I listen to the show once or twice a week and find her to be down to earth with a good sense of humor.
