Yesterday I had face to face interview for a Student Support Specialist position at UoP's Southern California's satellite locations. I really enjoyed the whole process. I thought it went well and I should know if I get the position within two weeks.

For those of you who are interested in knowing my interview experience, here it is:

I applied online on their website and around 1 month later, I received an email asking to schedule for a phone interview. The phone interview ran about 30 minutes where they gave a description of job and the salary they were willing to pay (which was more than what I make now). I was asked scenario type question about my past customer service skills. At the close of my interview, I was informed that I would hear back before the end of the week whether or not I received a second interview. I then received a call to schedule the second interview. Yesterday when I went to the interview site, I was informed that they do not select many candidates for admin positions, because they like to promote from within for these types of positions. I was really impressed with the overall interview process. I was then asked several other scenario type questions. I found these questions to be easy because it provides you to notice a problem, present a solution to what you did in you past experience and explain what was the effect of your work efforts. At the end of this second interview, I was escorted to the main hall way by the supervisor who was super nice. She explained to me that they don't typically have many outside candidates and that I must have done a great job to receive a second interview. She later commented, "I can see why you received a second interview". I really hope I got the position because I want to help and make a difference in the lives of each student I can run into.

I'll keep you informed about the outcome. :)

Okay the results are in... I didn't get the position! No biggie. I am really happy even though I didn't receive an offer. I just know that God has something better in stored for me.

I know that I was an ideal candidate for the position, but I'm sure they found someone who could do just as good of a job, if not better! I will say this much, I felt the whole process was a positive experience.

I believe the best part was actually receiving a phone call from the HR rep who unfortunately advised me that the position was offered to another individual (no sarcasm intended). In the times that I have interviewed, I haven't received a phone calls before regarding the denial. I received emails and no responses at all, but never have I ever received a phone call. I felt that was a nice personal touch that was given. It's shows a lot of character about UoP. The humanistic approach really adds a nice touch.

I may apply later in the future, if they have another position that sparks my interest. However at this time, I'm just going to finish up my degree at Liberty. One more year to go; and off to my teaching credential after that!

I'm so sorry you didn't get the job. However, I love your positive attitude! It was very nice of them to call you in person to notify you. Good luck with your continued studies! :)
