Rebel REbel! This is good news my friend. That means I'll have plenty of time to finish out the program before any major changes occur to tuition. I'm stoked. hahaha. =)

Also, I'm signed up for summer classes. Tentatively taking European History Seminar, and Railroad History.

    What are your concentrations?

One day, legions of Craniacs just may regret not getting a Master's degree when they had the chance.

You sir.....are a glutton for punishment! RR is only 4 weeks and the EH is Lavalle correct? Yikes!

I am certain of Writing for my major concentration. There are a few credits in Criminal Justice that I like so that is in for 9 (almost for sure). I really cant decide on the last one...I would love to do 9 in Business (I hear there may be a lot more Business courses coming online next year) but for now the selection just stinks. It will probably be Poly Sci instead.

I was determined to do a concentration in History...but i just don't think I have the time to commit to all the reading they seem to want.

MC....Just bust out that degree at COSC or TESC or whatever and come on in....the waters fine. :)

Yeah, Lavalle's classes are always a challenge, but I have made my way through a lot of the reading, and even written some papers for my summer classes already. All that will remain is writing a 20-25 p. research paper, and whatever work will be in the Railroad history class. I'm determined to get cranking this year since I only took one course per semester last year. Got to get this Master's done, so I can move onto my next!

You may want to see a PM to Wildgoose. He is in the writing concentration, and there was one teacher he had trouble with, so you may want to be careful. He can tell you more about it.

Also, I believe that the courses outside of Lavalle do not have as much reading. You may want to look into them to see if anything interests you!

I'm in for the summer but I'm a NM resident so the tuition isn't an issue for me. What I did discover is that there is a "on-line" fee of $40 a credit hour that I never learned about before :-((.

No idea what you guys are talking about, but this link doesn't work for me. Anyone else having a problem with it? :yikes:

P.S. Oh and can someone explain what this is about? Minimal or free tuition? I never saw a thread about this program.

You guys really need to consider extending the edit time. In reading further, they are continuing to waive the out-of-state tuition rates and allowing students to take advantage of in-state rates. Is this correct?

Yep.....its a huge savings for me, the mais degree will total out at around 7K. Trouble is you don't really know from year to year if it will be extended.

That is a great deal, especially with the different concentrations.

Try this instead Virtual Campus - Online Programs

Just know that if you go over 6 credits in the academic year all hours will be charged at the out of state tuition....which is a lot higher (3x's or so). I don't know if you could do more than 6 hours in the summer without the increase. They advertise that summer classes are always charged in state rates...but then recommend no more than 6 hours be attempted. One could take a class each 4 week mini-mester and one over the full 10 week summer semester for a total of 9 credits, yet never really be taking more than 2 classes at a time. I may try this...just not many classes in that second mini-mester that I find appealling.

I love the prices but can't find any classes I really get excited about either.

Yeah, I sometimes think I should have just done an MBA somewhere. And there is that MPH at UWF that just calls out to me (really...they put a billboard up for it not far from my house). But the MAIS touches several of my interests. I could afford it even without the relatively paltry $3K/year re-imbersment I currently get at work. (not knocking 3K, just that it doesn't buy a whole lot in today's higher ed market).

This is what I'm doing. I have nine credit for the summer. One class each session and one that goes over both sessions.

I had a conversation with the registrars office and they told me that technically you can take up to 9 credit hours per session or a total of 18 hours for the summer. That seems like a crushing load to me, even at full time. One thing I don't like WNMU is that there is a lot of information that contradicts itself between what is written on-line and what you get told over the phone.

How did you manage to get the syllabus to start your paper? The profs haven't contacted or emailed me anything.

Right! And, they won't give you syllabi before the term.

However, now I have three courses with Dr. L under my belt, and I pretty much know the format of his courses. Each book we read, we usually have to write a book review of 500-600 words. So, I am trying to knock these out of the way before class begins.

Other than that, we usually have to write a 25 p. historiographical essay on a topic of our choosing, which relates to the time period under investigation. Obviously, you can't do everything before class starts, but you can get some of the heavy lifting out of the way, so you can better enjoy the semester, and not be stressed with your course load. But, who knows, maybe Dr. L will really change it up this time! :p

hmmm....looks like you can take up to 9 credits in the summer at in state rates. Appears they waive any out of state costs over the summer. I have confirmed this with Jessica....think I will follow up with the finance office tomorrow just to be sure.
