Liberty University is another school I am looking into. Any thoughts or experience with them? Again, I would like to teach part time atleast and need a somewhat affordable but respected degree.

  2. Looking for too...Which program?

It really depends on the program and what you want to do with it.

  4. Just realized that you can't edit your post after someone has commented after you. Dear grammar police please forgive me.:eek:uch:

My undergrad is in criminal justice and was looking into that. The Master of Arts in Public Policy is another I am interested in as well since I see that they only have MBA with concentration in criminal justice.

  6. If your looking to teach any business courses then your going to run into a few issues. The MBA is not AACSB accredited. That would be a requirement for teaching at most schools. Their MA in Public Policy is pretty new for them so I don't think we have any members that have completed the program.

I'm pursuing a MBA there. I don't official start until the middle of May but things are "just as advertised" so far. There is a strong Christian undertone in the classes that I am enrolled in. If you don't mind that then everything seems just as if it were a secular institution. They have a few course syllabi on their website so you can reference those if want to get a glance at things.

Sorry for any confusion..I meant to express that the only criminal justice type degrees they have are in the MBA. So I found the Public Policy where that allows one to concnetrate on communications, business, or law (my choice). Thanks for the info!

I'm half way through the EdD program at Liberty and I love it. Very helpful professors and staff. Most of my classes have been great with only a few classes here and there that I didn't particularly like. Very fast response from staff and professors. Most of the online classes are taught by assistant professors with only a few adjuncts here and there.

PM me and I will be happy to tell you anything else you would like to know.

If you're looking for a graduate degree to teach CJ, I would advise against the Liberty M.B.A. and encourage you to go for a M.A. or M.S. in CJ. If I were hiring adjuncts for a CJ teaching position and saw that a candidate's only graduate degree was an M.B.A., I'd round file it without looking any further.

Even though I love Liberty, if Bruce says it is not good for you in landing employment in the CJ education field, I would defer to him.

  11. He know's his stuff. I would agree with SurfDoctor.

I appreciate the votes of confidence!

I should mention that I love Liberty University as a school, but an M.B.A. in CJ just doesn't make sense to me.....kind of like hearing a guitar player hit the wrong chord.

As a guitar player, I might resent that statement!

So am I, and have hit the wrong chord on occasion!

Huh? That must be unique to your program. It certainly isn't institution-wide for online courses.
