Thinking of attending FHSU. Looking for a school with "structure."

Good morning! This is my second new thread at this wonderful website, so forgive me if I am repeating a topic that is constantly revisited.

I have received some wonderful advice so far. I am researching online distance education. I already have an associate degree from many years ago, and I am looking to obtain a bachelor degree in liberal/general studies for growth and personal enrichment. I love to learn, and I am looking to further my education for pleasure/self-exploration in a variety of topics.

With that said, I don't know how I would do with "independent study." I feel I would need structure, with meeting times, deadlines, etc. to keep me accountable. I am the type of person who would enjoy meeting students on discussion boards, etc. Also, I need a school that is affordable. I would be receiving very little assistance if any, and the rest would be out of pocket.

The amount of online distance education is mind boggling! I really like the looks of the Fort Hays program, and the tuition makes it even better.

Now, onto my question. If I am a new distance learning student looking for structure, accountability, deadlines, etc., what would be some good recommendations for a choice of schools?

Are there schools with more of an "independent study" format that I should shy away from?

Any feedback on FHSU in particular?

If you have followed me this far, I appreciate it! Thank you in advance for your time and advice.

If you had posted your question in the General Distance Learning Discussion section you might have received more responses.

Anyway you might want to check out the degrees available from the big three schools. That way you could take courses from several schools and find one that meets your needs. Then transfer all your credits to the big three school you selected since they have very minimal restrictions on the amount of tranfer credit they accept.
I like the Excelsior BSLS since it allows 59 semester units of professional credit (business, engineering, education, etc)

Ian, I appreciate your advice! Thank you for taking the time to make suggestions. I did post my thread under General Distance Learning. When I hit enter, it said it was being reviewed by the moderators. I don't know how it got here. :)

OK. I just copied and pasted my question on the general discussion board, but it says it needs to be approved by a mod. Hopefully it will show up there.....

Your first several posts need to be approved by a moderator before they appear (which they should be soon).
