I have known some people who have been through the WPI Fire Science and Fire Protection program - definitely not a program for the "math and science-averse" student.

"Fire Science" is often an incorrectly applied title to a wide variety of degree programs in fire protection from the AA technical level course to Graduate engineering courses. The WPI Program is definitely the later:

"Applicants for admission to the master's degree program should hold at least a BS degree in engineering (or equivalent), engineering technology or the physical sciences. Additionally, an academic background in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and differential equations is needed. Applicants from other related disciplines may be asked to take selected undergraduate courses to round out their backgrounds."
