In the USA each school has it's own standards regarding the acceptance of foreign degrees. I know nothing about the school that rewarded you with your degree but assuming that it's a legitimate, accredited university you should have no real problems. You might benefit from exploring the prospect of paying for a degree equivalency evaluation.

Thanks for the reply. The university that I graduated from is not recognized by UGC. So I am not sure if this certificate works for me to get admission for masters. Do you have any idea about it..

    Appreciate your reply.

I'm sorry but know virtually nothing about the higher education system in India. If your school is not accredited by the proper authorities in your own country then it seems to me that you can't reasonably expect that another country will honor that degree. The best you can do is to simply apply to the school(s) of your choice and hope for the best.

That depends whether you want to continue your Masters in IT or any other field. In US, all the universities follow different instructions. Some will allow you to do masters though you have distance degree but some won't have any policy regarding that.

That was your first mistake - choosing a degree that was not UGC recognized. Let me explain why:

When you apply for admission to any US college, they will generally ask for your educational evaluation. The evaluation is usually done a by a third party, like World Education Services (World Education Services - International Education Intelligence), Educational Credential Evaluators (http://www.ece.org) or AACRAO (AACRAO: American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers Homepage).
These organizations specialize in evaluation of foreign credits. They will most probably consult the list of UGC accredited universities to see if your Lucknow college is listed, which probably is not. And I dont know what will be the outcome of the evaluation in that case.

My suggestion for you, is to slow down and correct your mistake first. There are colleges in USA (called the Big 3 - search in this forum and you'll find more info) where you can finish your (accredited) bachelor's by testing-out for a large number of credits. I am sure Credit-By-Exams like CLEP are available in India.

Another option is to complete your bachelor's from a Nationally Accredited college like PennFoster or WorldCollege. These are relatively inexpensive. Remember again - Nationally Accredited degrees have LIMITED acceptance in USA, but I believe it's better than an Un-accredited degree like yours.

Southern Methodist University offer various Master of Science degrees in Engineering. We used to have students all over the world via Distance Learning. Mostly, Indian students on campus and distance learning from India. However, Southern Methodist University tuition is expensive, I believe the current per credit hour is $1,300.00. Just other replies, if your school awarded Bachelor degree to you is accredited by proper authority in India. Then you don't have any problem for US schools admission. However, each school has its own standard. Therefore, I would recommend to check on the school that you want to attend for more information.

The OP said his degree is NOT recognized by UGC. UGC (University Grants Commission) is the government organization in India which oversees Universities, including their accreditation and degree granting power.
