    Which do you prefer?

Me personally, I prefer online because I am only committed to my house. I like the fact I can save on gas and travel time.

    Your thoughts, just curious.....

I like online learning much better and studies have supported the quality of online education. The US Dept. of Ed did a review that summarized 44 studies that examined online education. Their conclusion was interesting; they found that most students scored higher when they studied online than they did in a traditional classes.

For technical subjects I prefer in-class courses and for most other subjects I do not have a preference (cost is the main decision factor).

A lot of it hinges on the instructor.

If the instructor is good, I prefer on-campus.

If the instructor is bad or boring, I prefer online because I don't have to sit through lectures.

I did my BA in residence and my MA online, and I definitely enjoyed the experience of the BA more because of my professors. You can't build relationships like I had in an online environment.

If the instructor isn't a factor, though, online is simply more convenient. If the lectures aren't going to challenge my thinking and dramatically influence my learning experience, I'd rather do without them.

    For convenience, I prefer online.

But, I've rarely had an online class that actually includes "lectures." Only a few of my online classes have ever had video lectures or PowerPoints. Most have online exams, discussions, and papers... then you read the book yourself. Some classes, it's incredibly helpful to have video or in-person lectures.
