Certified Manager Certification from the Institute of Certified Professional Managers

So I was looking through a site that the Navy has called Navy COOl (Credentialing Opportunities On-Line) as I am nearing the end of my 2nd Navy US Map Department of Labor certification timeline. I found a particularly interesting Certification that the Navy will fund called a CM (certified manager) certification. I have never heard of it before and am currently googling away to see what, if any, utility this certification would truly have. I also figured that I would ask the vast collection of wisdom and experience on here to see if anyone on this site either has the certification and has used it or know's of its utility in the civilian worforce. I figure I could get it and pay the 50 dollar a year renewal fee just to carry it until it becomes important (IE when I start processing out of the Navy whenever that time may come). Thanks.

 

I have not heard of the CM certification, but the Certified Public Manager (CPM) credential is a welkl-regarded credential in the public sector. American Academy of Certified Public Managers

 

Sadly that is not one they will pay for me to get. They even pulled the PHR certification down from my rating as that is what I was planning to apply for. The ones they will pay for are as follows:

Certified Global Meeting Planner (CGMP), Certified Planner of Professional Meetings (CPPM), Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), Certified Administrative Professional (CAP), Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP), Certified Manager (CM), and once I make E7 Project Management Professional (PMP). These are the only ones the Navy will pay for with my current rating (Job Specialty). There is no cap on how many I can get so I plan to do one now and the PMP when I make E7. Any insight is welcome.

 

I may do that Certified Administrative Professional. Its sad that having too many options is actually a problem here lol.
