    Hello,

I have been a long time lurker here on degreeinfo and have found the community very helpful indeed as a resource of vast and varied research and experience. *catches breath* But now, I have a question:

When TESC says that they desire a student seeking a Mathematics major to have "One college-level mathematics course..." in their "Natural Sciences and Mathematics" section of the degree, will they accept the "College Mathematics" CLEP? As the CollegeBoard themselves say that this test is aimed at non-math majors, I wondered if it would suffice. If so, would the College Algebra CLEP count in my general electives as a distinct test? To complicate matters further, what if I sought the same credits through ALEKS? If this question perplexes anyone, it is only after it has perplexed me for quite some time now.

To get a definitive answer you need to contact TESC.
My guess is that you would get some credit for CLEP math exams - but not for comparable challenge exams or comparable college math courses.

I dont think the College Math CLEP will work in the major, but should count as gen ed math. College Agebra should be fine as CLEP or ALEKS. In fact I believe its Algebra, Pre Calc, Trog and Stats that they will count from aleks. stats might be at the upper level...and they may take business stats as well.....but I'm no TESC expert.

You should always check with TESC to be sure, but I'm about 99.9% sure that the CLEP College Algebra will satisfy the TESC requirement.
