I dont know about free, but I know I use Perrla. It was, I think, $35 one time charge, free updates for life, can be put on up to 3 computers, and has been a LIFESAVER when writing papers. They have 3 options: APA only, MLA only, and APA and MLA. That one is a little more expensive, but if you have any need to write in MLA (humanities, for example) then its worth it. Otherwise, the APA only option works awesome. I have never ever gotten marked off for improper APA formatting. If anyone comes across a free APA style checker, though, I'd love to know about it. My bestfriend is in online college and cant afford Perrla. So if there was a free program, I'd love to pass it on to her.
