I'm starting a DL MSc program in Public Policy and Management. I have a few ideas in mind, and thought I'd see if I could get some ideas from others. My ideas: Profits and Public Health: A Study of Corporations, The Laws that Govern Them, and Strategies Designed to Influence Corporations' Effects on the Public's Health Healthcare in America: what's wrong with it, what's been done to fix it, and what needs to be done. I'm not married to an idea that is fixated on the US side of a topic. Though I do want to focus the topic on the healthcare system. Thanks for the ideas.
What topic are you very passionate about? Since you are going to be married to this topic, it helps if the topic is something you are interested in!
My own thoughts . . . Those topics are too big. Any real dissertation that's going add to current knowledge would have to be 2 or 3 thousand pages long. Pick a micro section of those topics and focus like a laser. That's what's needed.
well... I've worked in retail pharmacy for many years. I might focus on the inherent problems of the insurance company itself. How it has pretty much played an important part in destroying the system with its restrictive policies. Show how all other nations, particularly the ones that have a system that is doing well without insurance companies in the fold, are doing in comparison. My professional experiences pretty much has me despising these companies, and discussing that has always been in the back of my mind. The program I'm in is asking for a 2500 word paper which I will eventually develop into my dissertation. Really appreciate the feedback so far..Shawn, Kizmet, thanks.
Ok...so I wrote a reply but it didn't post. Well, I was thinking that maybe I can discuss the impact of insurance companies on healthcare. How they're practices just reinforce how drug companies' decision to charge the prices they do. By professional experiences are in the retail pharmacy area and I guess if I had to focus like a laser I would focus on that aspect. How the insurance industry has only exacerbated the current issues in the US healthcare system, and I would also research how other nations don't have these problems because the insurance industry doesn't exist there. Something narrow like that would be better?
Ok, third times a charm... I was thinking of maybe focusing on the aspect of insurance companies and their impact on the the rising cost of healthcare in the US. Maybe compare US healthcare to the state run systems of other nations. Explore how they pretty much are like an evil entity that basically does nothing but raise the cost of healthcare and limit one's choices. Thanks Shawn and Kizmet for your feedback.
