Check to see if you need the lab as well. That would be almost impossible to take online.

No any more. Lab Paqs by Hands-On Labs are quite impressive, meet government (OSHA, etc.) regulatory standards for wet labs. Many schools are now using Lab Paqs for lab-based science courses.

bazonkers is right. The hard part is not "taking the course," the hard part is finding the course. Most schools don't offer this because of the labs. Most of the online chem programs are in the commonwealth schools (England, Australia, etc.) Will those credits transfer? Roll the dice at your own risk. Look at Mary Baldwin College as a possibility.

...shocked. Guys, sciences with labs have been discussed quite a bit. I've taken 7 online lab sciences and I'm taking a non-lab bio course this semester. I took my intro chem with lab (which, btw, I never even HAD chem in high school, and my bio class was in 1984..so..) at Ocean County College which uses the Hands On Labs company- very fun. I hope you like writing, and you'll need a digital camera for your lab reports.
Anyway, you can also do chem with virtual labs (simulators) at a number of community colleges. Too many to list. In fact, 99% of the chem with lab classes I investigated were sims. I picked Ocean because they were NOT sims, but that's chocolate vs vanilla.
Lastly, on my wish list is Medical Chemistry 1 & 2 from University of New England med school. Same total cost as Ocean but double the fun. University of New England - Home

I stand corrected. :) Thanks for updating me on the availability of online labs. I didn't realize they were that widespread.

New Mexico Junior College or Clovis may have it, I know nmjc has basic Chem. You can probably do 1 and 2 in a single semester. Some of the local colleges here in Fla prohibit online sciences for programs like nursing, others don't seem to care.....better check with your school. St Pete college in Fla should have it too, though they are pricey if your out of state.

The Gen Chem I looks like a great idea. However, do you know if they will be offering Gen Chem II online?.

Many I know of a few Universities that will not give you credit for the full year if is was not taken in series at the same s institution.

So I would need to the both I & II to get credit.

I took Chem at Clovis last summer. Inexpensive, and no book was required- as all of the material was provided by the instructor or linked to an online source.
