Online MS in Accounting Texas A&M Commerce

Hi! Has anyone done or heard of the MS in Accounting at TAMU-Commerce? Is the program AACSB accredited? Good/Bad experiences? Thanks for any info!

I just did a search on the TAMU Commerce site and don't see an online graduate accounting program listed. Do you have a link to the program?

MS in Accounting is a Great program. But i would advise you to think twice before jumping in. I have taken couple of classes from the accounting/finance department at TAMU during my MSM. The classes are not easy. The exams are very difficult. Both of my classes had just two exams(no assignments or discussion board participation) and the grades were decided on the performance on just those two exams. Many of my fellow-students failed. You will do good only if you your Accounting/Finance concepts are very good. You cannot pass a class just by writing assignements like most online programs.

TAMU-Commerce has AACSB "business" accreditation, which covers their MBA program.

However, the status of their MSA program is less clear (at least to me). TAMU-Commerce does not have AACSB "accounting" accreditation. So the MSA is not an AACSB-accredited "accounting" program; however, it may still qualify as an AACSB-accredited "business" program. You might want to check directly with the school about this.

 

Thank you all for your replies! I called the school today and they said, although it does not have the accounting accreditation, the MSA is an AACSB-accredited business program.

 

AACSB accreditation insures that your degree will have the highest reputation of any business degrees out there. It also insures that it will be more expensive for you, but that can often be a good investment. This is especially true in any financial industry.
