Since the Open University of Cyprus is a state university, its degrees should be recognized throughout Cyprus.

Except maybe in the northern part of Cyprus -- where a different government is in control.

northern part of cyprus is a different country not just a different government. It is an independent country. Yes this degree is not recognized in the northern part of Cyprus which is called Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Instead of going with this basic university you can go and look for distance learning programs of Girne American University. It has online bachelor, masters and phd programs. All degrees from this university are recognized all around the world. Its prices are reasonable for a regionally accredited university. The link below is for online mba program of the university. You can search the site for the rest of distance learning programs. This university takes place in northern part of Cyprus.

Yeah, well, in the other 99.999% of the world it's recognized. This is a political matter of concern only to Cypriots, and has no real bearing on whether OUC is a recognized school.

Maybe Girne itself is, but not the program you're suggesting.

The program is not offered by anything that is a regionally accredited university.

This is a program offered through something called "Dulles University", an unaccredited school five miles from my office, yet so obscure I've never heard of it. Their MBA tuition rate is $550 per credit, 36 credits required, total $19,800.

I'm all for international education, and under some circumstances unaccredited schools can meet people's needs. But in this case, your advice is dreadful, so bad, in fact, that I believe it's motivated from your position on the Cyprus issue rather than a concern for helping the original poster reach his or her goals.

If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, well... You know how it goes. To me this "university" looks very suspect to say the least. The mill meter just went a little higher. It smells fishy...:yikes:

Enh, Girne American University itself might actually be okay. It's the specific program, which is promoted by them but actually offered by a different unaccredited American university that's the problem.

I'm interested in the PhD program of Open University of Cyprus. The fees are somewhat cheaper compare to other online universities out there. according to the website all of their degrees are accepted worldwide. i just want to know if it's true. thanks.

Dulles University appears to be unaccredited. However, Girne American University has CHEA-recognized professional accreditation, from IACBE, for its "Faculty of Business and Economics".

Go to the IACBE "Member Status" page and do a search by country for "North Cyprus". GAU pops up as an Accredited Member.

If the GAU/Dulles online MBA degree is conferred by GAU (rather than Dulles), then it arguably does have a form of recognized American accreditation.

However, Dulles also appears to be operating legally as a state-licensed institution. It is located in Vienna, Virginia, and it is on the list of "Private & Out-of-State Colleges & Universities Certified to Operate in Virginia", as maintained by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia.

So the GAU/Dulles program appears to be state-licensed (through Dulles), and may also be IACBE-accredited (through GAU).

I didn't say Dulles isn't operating legally, because I see that it is. I'm saying for twenty grand that's not exactly the deal of the century. And given Dulles's unaccredited status, I'd rather a degree from GAU than Dulles anyway.
