As a graduate, good news. However, I am curious as to how Webster in previous years was Top Tier in what I thought were undergraduate rankings. Now it shows up solely at the Masters level. Did they change methodology or am I missing a piece of the puzzle (entirely possible). North
Question: Where are you looking that they are rated top tier masters? If this is the US News ranking, they are listed based on their top program (i.e. masters). See Ranking category definitions
Their DM progam Just an additional statement on Webster, their DM Doctorate of Management is a top management program. I'm hoping the school will offer it at some of their other locations.
Re: Their DM progam I live in the St. Louis area, and it well known that Webster offers a world class education. My question is why in the world they don't have AACSB accreditation for their business programs? What are they missing?
Speaking of Webster University, they offer on line Masters degrees: MBA Master of Arts in Teaching Masters in Business and Organizational Security Management. http://www.webster.edu/worldclassroom/ North
Webster is RA as hell. You can't get RAer than that. They are a huge university with a great performing/media arts focus. You can find their programs on just about every military base in the nation.
Just not real inexpensive. The online tuition ranges from $443 per credit hour for the MBA to $346 per credit hour for the MAT. http://www.webster.edu/ All I can say is thank God for Tuition Assistance. North
For anyone interested in Webster's Online MA in Business and Organizational Security Management, I am currently the Academic Advisor for the program. While I am usually visiting this forum as a consumer of distance education, I'd be happy to answer any questions about the program - either here or via email (see below). Steve, I realize this may be out of your arena but is there any chance that the Doctorate in Management program will be introduced beyond the Campus in St. Louis. For example, on line with some campus residency. North
There are currently no plans, that I am aware of, to offer the D.Mgt. program outside of the St. Louis area, in a limited residency format, or online. Steve Houldsworth
I spoke with a rep from that program, and she told me that they only take 20 students per year. I repeat my question......Why in the heck are they not AACSB Accredited. They have a great Reputation.
I am not sure why Webster has not pursued AACSB accreditation, but my guess is that a major reason is the level of adjunct faculty use - especially at Webster's 100 classroom locations around the world. Steve Houldsworth
And I believe they also have a requirement that each campus has a full-fledged research level library. Chapman University stopped offering its MBA at satellite campuses partially because of this. To me, AACSB is dragging its heels. You can put the CD-ROM equivalent of most university libraries in a broom closet today. jim
Re: And It is interesting that Regional Accreditors are coming along as far as realizing the electronic access students have has changed the absolute need for hard copy information at the site of instruction. RA has accredited schools like Walden, Capella, NCU, etc. Other national accreditors are still adhering to the requirement for the on campus library. AACSB is not alone. Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS) has the same requirement for colleges & universities that it accredits. North
