I've been looking for online certificate programs or courses (preferably not leading to a degree) re Medieval England----thanks in advance for any information.....Trying to find UK universities first, then USA universities with this kind of program.
As a second choice, looking for courses/certificates in medieval history in general, not just England.

(I see where I posted something similar back in February, but forgot that I did until I saw it just now...but even so, there are probably a lot of folks here who may not have been on this site back then, who may have some info)

The Teaching Company offers a 36-lecture course on "The Story of Medieval England". They also offer other courses like "The Medieval World", "The Medieval Heroine", and "The High Middle Ages".

I have not tried these particular courses, but have found other Teaching Company courses to be of very high quality. The caveat is that all Teaching Company courses are completely non-credit; they make no effort to evaluate your understanding (i.e., no tests, papers, or grades), and so they have no applicability towards college credit or degrees.

All of their courses go on sale periodically. You can also keep costs down if you opt to download the lectures, rather than ordering CDs or DVDs.

They have a general Medieval World course on sale right now. Seems there is always a sale on some courses, so don't pay full price. Medieval World

Not only that, Teaching Company courses are often available at public libraries -- for free. I just looked in the online catalog for my local public library system, and they have both the Medieval England and Medieval World courses on DVD (although both are currently checked out -- guess they are popular).

The University of Wales Lampeter has a program in historical archeology. Maybe they have a cert program in there somewhere too.
