Hey everyone, I've been doing a lot of research online and I finally found a forum with a decent amount of members so I'm looking for some advice. I'm looking to get a bachelors in criminal justice. I only possess a CHSPE ( California Equivelant ) high school diploma with no college credits to transfer. I'm looking for a 100% online program. Most universities I've contacted have said that given my current situation everything will be fine.

So far all I have for a choice is SNHU. Also, I need to make sure the school I go to is accredited I do plan on going to law school. Any advice for other schools that I should attend?

Also forgot to mention, I have SNHU as one of my choices because they are 8 1/2 courses that's one of my requirements. Any input is appreciated!

WNMU online CJ degreehttp://www.wnmu.edu/VirtualCampus/programs/BS_Criminal_Justice.shtml .....though I would look at a local CC or NMJC New Mexico Junior College - Distance Learning for my LL credits as its a lot cheaper.

I've been looking into WNMU and I've heard great things, however.... This is a bachelors of "applied" science. What's the difference? It says upper division hours outside the major or minor are not required. Also the information on this site is extremely limited. Are these 8 1/2 courses?

I don't think a BAS qualifies for applying to grad school.

I came back to mention that I don't know how a bas would fly on the law school admissions. Nmjc does have a lot of 8 week courses. And is a great start. You could take enogh courses to complete a focus at tesc and transfer there for a bs or ba. There are a lot of ways to put it together. you can get started with your gen ed and keep looking for a cj bachelors.

Thanks for all the input guys. I'm looking for a university that's respected and obviously regionally accredited for a transfer into law school. I'm sort of looking to start in one place and finish at that one place to prevent confusion and transfer issues. If anyone knows of a good regionally accredited university for a BA in Criminal Justice from a respected university please let me know! Again I have no college credits to transfer.

Hi, eagleforce626. Welcome to Degree Info. I noticed that you posted more than once because your first one appeared not to show up. Here is the reason for that: http://www.degreeinfo.com/general-distance-learning-discussions/35100-new-users-ask-where-did-my-posts-go.html

Thanks, I noticed quick reply works best and doesn't require to be screened.

Eagleforce, how about American Public University/American Military University? They have 8 week terms (also have 16 week terms) and affordable tuition at $250 an hour for bachelors. They have both a BA and a BS. Here's the link for APU. APU Degree Program: Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice I don't know what -if any- differences there are between APU and AMU but they are very helpful there so they would be good sources of information.

Our own Truckie270 is a full-time prof there. I took Grad level finance classes and found them to be well-done and professional. Lots of papers and discussion questions but no team projects, although that might be different in different schools and at the Bachelor's level.

Hey MBAonline, I reviewed AMU/APU and I sort of came to terms that I want my Bachelors from a more "reputable" university. I guess you can say I'm more comfortable with a "state" college or something with a physical campus that people attend. This is a resume/law school application reason. I need it to look legitimate I guess.

Check out the schools in my SIG file; some of the links are broken (yes, I'll get around to fixing them eventually), but that's a good starting point for some online CJ degree options.

if your goal is law school, you want a regionally accredited (RA) degree; the title of the degree doesn't matter, it just needs to be a four-year RA degree.

Hey Bruce, I can't see your sig for some reason.

Hey Eagle....why do they have to be 8 week classes? I like the "accelerated" format too, just wonder if there is some compelling reason to insist on them? I think it might be a little limiting to eliminate schools on a traditional 15-16 week format....but YMMV :)

OK, fair enough. I think that your insistence on 8 week classes might make it harder to find a program that fits your needs.

I also think that you should try to find one that has name recognition where you live (or want to live).

Here's a gem for you but more expensive: Regis University with 5 or 8 week undergrad sessions: Bachelor of Science in Criminology Degree - Regis University CPS

All the rest of these look like full semesters but check them out anyway.

If you're in the Northwest, Washington State University but with 18 week classes: Online Criminal Justice Degree

Valdosta State - looks like standard semester length onlineprograms

Portland State- Criminology & Criminal Justice Degrees Online

    University of North Carolina -http://online.northcarolina.edu/subjectprograms.php?subject=17

Arizona State - BS Criminology and Criminal Justice | Online Degree Programs
