    It's not for academic credit or certification, but the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation has partnered with Weber State University to offer an online certificate in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) with several concentrations;

    It's very low cost and can be completed 100% online at your own pace, so it's something that people in the psychology/counseling fields may want to look at. I'll definitely be taking the Law Enforcement Perspectives in CISM track when I get some free time.

    I took a few CISM courses and received certs in several disciplines (Individual, Group and Advanced Group) and was very very pleased with the training... I don't have my certs handy but I believe the Univ of Maryland offered CEC points for it; I'll double check on Monday. Every organization/institution should have CISM trained folks in case of a major incident - the # of folks developing PTSD who were part of CISM sessions are drastically fewer than those who don't.
