I finished doctoral level statistics and did well enough this last summer and I am going to tackle Quantitative Methods soon. I have heard rumors that it is even tougher than high doctoral level statistics, but it seems like merely an application of it to me. Has anyone done a quantitative methods class? Was it as tough as I am told? If so, why is that?

I had a tough time with my class, but that may be due to the fact that it had been a while since I had taken graduate-level quantitative statistics. It was tough for me because of the volume of material we covered in 16 weeks. It was one of the first classes in the program and few if any of us in the program had any idea what sort of statistical analysis we were going to focus on in our dissertations, so they covered everything. It could have very easily been broken down into two courses over two semesters rather than one in 16 weeks.

Was it primarily a class on how to use advanced statistics in real-world, research situations? If so, that seems like an application of doctoral level statistics which doesn't seem like it will be terrible as long as you understand how to do the math.
