Wait a second. The dude is awesome but he gets $5M and uses the money to hire 2 employees!!!!????!!! This is just like the Obama stimulus package which created temporary jobs at massive costs. I would much rather have a private company like Straighterline build its capacity with student tuition.

Straighterline is pretty cool and I think it, the CLEP/DSST tests, and innovative self-study sites like the khan academy are a big component in the future of general education. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/25/education/25future_straight.html
It's not secondary, it's higher education. The idea is that its courses transfer in to the school from which you want to graduate.
I love Sal Khan. Love him. I see this as the beginning of the end. I get it- he needs to earn a living. Sad face.
It is the beginning of the end of Khan academy as we know it. But the beginning of something larger, more bureaucratic. If anyone is interested in learning more about straighterline, there are zillions of posts about it online. Its inexpensive and an excellent source of credit that can transfer to any of its partner colleges or any school that accepts ACE credit like Thomas Edison State College or Exelsior or Charter Oak.
Get it while it's hot! Anyone who follows these forums knows that the good deals like these increase fourfold in price before everybody's friends get to hear of them.
I can't believe what a broad range of knowledge that guy has. I go to that site and I'm mind boggled to see how many diverse topics he teaches. Every one I have watched is spot on and inspired, too.
