    Hi,

I have almost finished my degree, but I have a problem. The school that I'm attending requires that I take a physical fitness course, but their only available offering for the Spring is golf. Well, the courses will be closed in my area during the Spring semester, so I can't graduate in the Spring, as I had planned. Does anyone know of an online physical fitness course that I could take and then transfer into my college?

Also, before you suggest that I take a class at a local college and then transfer it in, that isn't an option.

My college accepted SCUBA certification, martial arts, and dance classes as credit for physical fitness so long as the instructors were certified by an agency the school recognized. I believe they also accepted youth sports coaching as a volunteer as well. Does your college allow anything like that?

Yes, they do award credit for prior physical fitness activities. The problem there is that they require that I take a class on preparing a portfolio for assessment before I can submit the actual portfolio. That class is only offered in the last eight weeks before graduation, so, if I went that route, I still wouldn't be able to graduate in Spring.

TESC offers a few, listed under Fitness and Wellness here. They also apply to TESC degrees and a certificate in Fitness and Wellness Services. FIT-211 Kinesiology will also be available in the form of a TECEP exam until June 30, 2012 when the exam will be retired.

Have you asked for a waiver to the portfolio class? There are lots of web sites related to portfolio writing (google "writing portfol;io for college credit") such as this one:Portfolio Credit Program | Franklin University
I prepared a portfolio for the University of Redlands based on my mountain climbing experience and learning.

BYU has some courses that might meet your needs (some schools are picky over course prefixes)
STAC 129—Fitness and Lifestyle Management (2 UNITS)
    STAC 139—Jogging (0.5 UNITS)
STAC 191—Weight Training, Beginning (0.5 UNITS)
BYU Independent Study - Online Courses

Thanks for the suggestions. Yesterday, I received an email from a contact at my school and we managed to reach a solution, so it looks like everything is going to work out.
