Next semester starts in January and I want to try and get my gen-eds complete so I can concentrate on major requirements. I'd like recommendations on cheapest, easiest, fastest way to complete the following:

English requirement=ENG-101;;ENG-102--Clep Comp. launder thru TESC??

    Lab science=Forensic Science???

    Religion study elective-300 or 400 level, I can't use DSST World Religions(duplicates)

Math elective=Statistics--Aleks? Although I have no knowledge of stats at all!

I looked into LSU & BYU although the prices are good and/or reasonable this is out of pocket, my gi bill is going to my B&M so cost is a big issue.

Also I searched but couldnt find How much does an evaluation cost at TESC? If I paid for an eval. theyd be placed on a transcript and be good to transfer correct??

    Thanks in advance, John

You never mentioned what school you're attending, you just mention "laundering" credits through TESC. If you tell us what school and program you're attending, we can probably offer better advice.

BTW....writing like you're sending a text message ("thru", not using apostrophes with contractions) will not only confuse us, but will form crappy writing habits that WILL surface in your academic writing.

Amen! I am getting to the point that I will not answer text messages that use letters of the alphabet rather than words: r u getting my point? I agree with Bruce, if you practice poor writing habits such practice will eventually betray you.

That's one of my pet peeves. My brother always kids me about my grammatically correct text messages, but I simply can't use the shortcuts I associate with teenage skateboarders......uh, I mean SK8ERS.

ALEKS is a good way to do stats if the subject is new to you, because it's a teaching tool first and a credit source second. ALEKS is learning from a robot, so borrow a book like Idiot's Guide to Statistics and plan to watch the learner.org video series Against All Odds to bring it to life; this should help you grasp the material. Be sure your college will accept ACE credit.

"Thru" has been a common usage in informal engineering communications for decades. It appears in many dictionaries including my 1963 edition Webster's New World Dictionary and my 2002 edition Oxford American Dictionary. Although I prefer to use the word "through."

For statistics look at Clovis CC. They offer STAT 213 Statistical Methods online (4-units) for $326.

Although you missed the start date for the Fall 2011 semester.

The low cost way to earn statistics credit is via DSST

You can use this video series as part of your learning:
Resource: Against All Odds: Inside Statistics

Note also that many schools do not accept CLEP English even if transferred from another school.

English requirement=ENG-101;;ENG-102--Clep Comp. launder thru TESC?? No, more about this later.

Lab science=Forensic Science??? find out if your college accepts ACE evaluated credit, if so, fastest-cheapest-easiest will be Straighterline.

    Religion study elective-300 or 400 level, I can't use DSST World Religions(duplicates)

Math elective=Statistics--Aleks? Although I have no knowledge of stats at all! If DSST exam is an option, I'd start there. Easy free online resources for study. PS If your school doesn't take ACE evaluated courses, you can't use ALEKS.

I looked into LSU & BYU although the prices are good and/or reasonable this is out of pocket, my gi bill is going to my B&M so cost is a big issue.

Laundering at TESC isn't an option. You can apply for an unofficial evaluation for $75. This does NOT produce a transcript. Additionally, in order to enroll at TESC, you'll need to pay the enrollment fee of about $2800. Laundering sounds like a good idea, but you have to remember that the school issuing the degree is the one that determines transfer credit. So, a CLEP that sat at TESC is still a CLEP that your home college will evaluate as CLEP. Your home college won't care that TESC thinks you should get comp credit. Home college is always trump.

Well, this isn't an engineering forum, and outside that niche market, the use of it makes one look like a dumbass, IMO.

I appreciate you sticking up for me cook. Bruce I honestly expected more class from you.

"Thru" might be more suited for an engineering forum as you said, but it does appear in the dictionary. In what dictionary are "BTW" and "IMO" words? You sir are a hypocrite!

Who are you as a moderator to put people on blast like this?

You want to call me a dumbass because I used an abbreviated version of a word? And that confused you?

I highly doubt you would call me a dumbass to my face but if you would like to give it a shot I would be more then willing to let you try.

As you either might or might not have noticed, Bruce is one of the Moderators (and he has seniority over the rest of the Mods, except Chip). I tend to agree with Bruce on this one ... maybe it is because I had a bunch of grammar Nazis for my high school English teachers.

Try reading for comprehension. I didn't call you a dumbass, I said you looked like a dumbass, which is most certainly true. I have no idea if you're actually a dumbass, since I don't know you, and I tend to think you're probably not, since you have interest in furthering your education, but when you use teenage shortcuts on a website designed for higher education, you most certainly do LOOK LIKE a dumbass.

    Oh, this again?

Yeah, I would. Google my name (my REAL name, which you don't use), I'm not that hard to find. Just keep in mind I'm a police officer, 6-3, 225lbs, and I carry a gun with me everyhere I go, so an unprovoked assault isn't going to end well for you. I absolutely, positively, 100% guarantee that without hesitation, and I'm smart enough to not throw the first punch.

I have no interest in Internet games, so if you want to try to kick my ass, then come to Massachusetts and do it. Don't talk about it, do it. As mentioned, it's not going to end well for you, but you're the tough guy who shot his mouth off.

    So do it.

By the way, notice that I didn't ban you, even though I have more than ample reason to do so. If you have an intelligent reply to this message (beyond "Yeah, I'll kick your ass!!", which I've heard a thousand times before, without ever getting my ass kicked), I'm interested to hear it.

    Have a nice day.

If you feel the need to ban me then do so, I really don't see why, we are having a disagreement. Now what is the real difference between saying, "you look like a dumbass" and calling someone a dumbass? I do not want to argue semantics with you.

My problem is you want to put me on blast because I used an abbreviated version of a word, and mistakenly forgot two apostrophes with contractions. You want to call that teenage text message shortcuts? As I already mentioned BTW & IMO are text message shortcuts.

As a senior moderator why do you have to say that a forum member who made three grammatical errors, has always tried to be respectful to everyone on this board, and tried to be helpful anywhere I could, looks like a dumbass?

Now I am sure that your fellow moderators and other senior members will take your side because you are who you are, and I am some just some young punk trying to stand up for myself against a senior moderator. Without a doubt you will ban me from this site because it is easier to get rid of the problem then admit you were wrong but if you allow this message to be posted all I have to say is does anyone else understand my point here? I am getting attacked for using the uncommon word "thru" and being advised to not write messages on here like a teenage text messager, from a moderator who uses text message abbreviations numerous times in this thread.

Am I the only person who sees the hypocrisy here?

I am not trying to start an "e-fight" with you, I admit I made grammatical mistakes!

Can you admit you were a little to fast to jump on me for my mistakes?

Well, I have reported your post in the Moderator sub-forum with the reason being that making personal attacks on Moderators is not too smart.
